Changing Lives Through Learning

Queen Elizabeth Grammar School

Founded in 1564 by Royal Charter, our school has been helping young people to secure outstanding academic results and providing a well-rounded experience for over 450 years. The school encourages students to take responsibility for their learning from the moment they join, ensuring they are well prepared for the challenges they face on their journey at QEGS. We are a growing school with 1040 students currently on roll, but remain sufficiently small to recognise individual talents and ensure everyone is challenged and supported to reach their goals.

David Marchant - Headteacher

Our vision is to succeed in ‘Changing Lives through Learning’ by providing the very best possible educational opportunities for young people. At our heart our core principles of respect for the individual, the encouragement of involvement within school and the wider community and the development of initiative to provide students with confidence and curiosity are promoted through all areas of QEGS life.

Y12 Environmental Scientists beat the weather today and had a fantastic first fieldtrip of the year! We studied different types of vegetation near Mungrisdale and carbon sequestration at Cliburn Moss. The students demonstrated a variety of data collection techniques and got to grips with some of the methodology required for their A Level course

A Message from the Student Leadership Team:

QEGS will be joining thousands of schools across the UK and taking part in Hello Yellow in support of YoungMinds on Thursday 10th October (World Mental Health Day) where we’ll be wearing something yellow on top of our normal uniform.

There are days when all of us struggle with how we are feeling. Things can get tough, and it can be difficult knowing how to cope. For so many young people, when this happens, they don't always get the help they need, when they need it. They don't know where to turn, who to talk to, or even if anyone else feels the same.

No young person should feel alone with their mental health. But together, we can change this.

To take part, students can wear yellow to school, and for those who would like to donate to help YoungMinds keep fighting for young people's mental health, this can be done directly on their website: www.youngminds.org.uk/support-us/fundraising/helloyellow/?scrlybrkr
