Queen Elizabeth Grammar School
Founded in 1564 by Royal Charter, our school has been helping young people to secure outstanding academic results and providing a well-rounded experience for over 450 years. The school encourages students to take responsibility for their learning from the moment they join, ensuring they are well prepared for the challenges they face on their journey at QEGS. We are a growing school with 1040 students currently on roll, but remain sufficiently small to recognise individual talents and ensure everyone is challenged and supported to reach their goals.

Our school magazine/newspaper has taken different forms over it's history and we have issues of The Elizabethan from the early 1900s!
The present editorial team are opening up the chance to design the front cover of the next issue to all students, giving them them chance to be part of this legacy!
There is no theme for the cover this issue of Blue
Good luck to everyone submitting and we cannot wait to see the final product!

🎶 Lunchtime Concert 🎶
Our first lunchtime concert of the year was a wonderful celebration of musical talent, featuring a diverse range of performances that delighted our audience and showcased the depth of creativity from our students.
We began with a flute duet performed by Liv (Year 11) and Mrs Saudek. Liv’s playing was sensational, with a tone that was both beautifully crisp and expressive. The duet was a charming and elegant opening to the concert, setting a high standard for the performances to follow.
Next, Joe Alban took to the stage with two contemporary pieces by a modern composer. Joe’s interpretation was confident and compelling, delivered with precision and musical maturity. His performance captivated the audience from start to finish.
Following Joe, we welcomed a familiar face to the lunchtime concert stage. A regular performer, Theo brought a sense of fun and flair with his cheeky rendition of Scott Joplin’s "Maple Leaf Rag". His playful approach and infectious energy were met with smiles and applause from the audience!
To round off the event, we were thrilled to welcome two students making their lunchtime concert debut. First, Isobel (Year 10) performed a flute solo accompanied by Mr Saudek. Her poised and confident playing was a joy to hear. Finally, Erin (Year 11) closed the concert with one of her Grade 5 violin pieces, delivering a polished and expressive performance!
All performers played with enthusiasm and skill, and the concert was thoroughly enjoyed by staff and students alike. It was a true celebration of musical excellence and community spirit!
We’re already looking forward to our next lunchtime concert at the end of November, and can’t wait to see what our talented students will bring to the stage next!
