Changing Lives Through Learning

Queen Elizabeth Grammar School

Founded in 1564 by Royal Charter, our school has been helping young people to secure outstanding academic results and providing a well-rounded experience for over 450 years. The school encourages students to take responsibility for their learning from the moment they join, ensuring they are well prepared for the challenges they face on their journey at QEGS. We are a growing school with 1040 students currently on roll, but remain sufficiently small to recognise individual talents and ensure everyone is challenged and supported to reach their goals.

David Marchant - Headteacher

Our vision is to succeed in ‘Changing Lives through Learning’ by providing the very best possible educational opportunities for young people. At our heart our core principles of respect for the individual, the encouragement of involvement within school and the wider community and the development of initiative to provide students with confidence and curiosity are promoted through all areas of QEGS life.

🌍✨ Activities Week is Almost Here at QEGS! ✨🌍
Next week, our students will be taking part in an exciting and varied programme of experiences as part of Activities Week 2026. From international visits to unforgettable local opportunities, there is something for everyone.
Students will be travelling to a range of locations including Belgium and the Battlefields, Normandy, London and Scotland, exploring new places, cultures and experiences beyond the classroom. Alongside these visits, students remaining in school will enjoy a fantastic range of activities including sports, drama, music, outdoor learning, careers sessions, team-building challenges, food and cooking workshops, university visits and much more.
At QEGS, we believe learning extends far beyond the classroom. Activities Week provides valuable opportunities for our students to develop confidence, independence, teamwork and resilience while creating lasting memories with friends and staff.
A huge thank you to all of the staff, parents and external partners who help make these opportunities possible. We can't wait to see our students embrace new challenges, explore new places and make the most of an incredible week ahead.

🎶✨ Summer Concert Highlights ✨🎶
What an incredible evening celebrating music from across the school! From the orchestra’s powerful Pirates of the Caribbean medley to the Girls’ Choir’s Shenandoah, there truly was something for everyone.
Our ensembles shone throughout, including fantastic performances from choir (You Will Be Found), the Staff & Student Choir (Drop, Drop, Slow Tears), brass group, string group, and our debuting Jazz and Flute groups 👏
A huge well done to our soloists – Theo Y, Liv D, Joe A, Bethany J and Cecily G – and to our chamber performers, including harp duet, vocal duet and trio, and the brilliant Cello Fellows 🎻
The grand finale saw choir and orchestra combine for an electrifying Greatest Showman medley – the perfect end to a fantastic concert!
👏 Congratulations to all 17 acts involved – an evening to be proud of!

Congratulations to the Y10 team playing in the inaugural Knights Stokes cricket cup. After playing several local teams the final county round was played on Friday vs Keswick.
Success in that game brought the team to AKS Lytham St Anne's for two T20s. Thank you to AKS for the kind use of their excellent facilities.
Firstly, they played Audenshaw School from Lancashire. QEGS posted a total of 130. This appeared a little short, but tight bowling and some great fielding restricted Audenshaw to 100 all out. Then in the final for the day it was a team of selected players from the 5 schools on the Isle of Man. Unfortunately, although they made a valiant effort try to chase down 160, QEGS came up short.
Many thanks to the local clubs that are fostering such a passion for cricket and enabling the schools to give even more opportunities for young players.
